filmmaker and digital storyteller

ABOUT
Eesha Patkar (she/her) is an emerging writer/filmmaker transplanted from Mumbai, India to Chicago, USA. In her decade-long career slowly evolving from journalist and arts writer to video producer, Eesha has consistently found purpose in storytelling, and a newfound love of its expression through film. Drawing from her Indian roots — and often as a subversive commentary on it — Eesha’s work is an exploration of female subjectivities, often within the complex social dynamics of South Asian culture.
Eesha graduated in English from the University of Mumbai in 2012, and Arts Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, NY, in 2013. After completing editorial internships at Louise Blouin Media and the League of American Orchestras in New York, Eesha went on to work as an Editorial Manager and Video Producer at Saffronart, an auction house in Mumbai, India, globally renowned for selling modern and contemporary South Asian art.
During her six-year stint at Saffronart, Eesha initiated and led video production, creating over 40 brand videos of artists and important artworks. Her work became a key tool in the company’s marketing strategy, and some of the highlighted works went on to achieve global auction records. Besides video production, Eesha’s primary role in the editorial department involved writing and overseeing all text content and communication for the auction catalogues, websites, and social media. She also occasionally photographed for the company’s luxury real estate vertical, Prime Properties.
In 2021, Eesha moved to Chicago to follow her passion for video and film work by pursuing an MFA in Cinema and Television Directing at Columbia College Chicago and working on countless film sets. She graduated in 2024 by screening her thesis film, Six Weeks, which has been officially selected at a few festivals in North America and India. Six Weeks also won the Weisman grant award in 2024 and the Best Student Film Jury award at the 15th DadaSaheb Film Festival in 2025.
Eesha continues to work in film and video production in Chicago.
